Zonta Presents: “Women On The Bridge”

On November 23, 2013 Zonta, along with WHAM (Women of Halton Action Movement) and SAVIS (Sexual Assault and Violence Intervention Services), said NO to violence against women by hosting an event on the Bridge at Navy and Lakeshore. Women were encouraged to come out with their signs and show their support of the cause by wearing orange.

Approximately 35 people attended this wonderful event including WHAM, SAVIS and community members.

Zonta is an organization that helps women locally, and around the world, by providing education, training, sanitation, health, agriculture and micro-credit assistance. In addition to providing assistance to women and girls worldwide, Zonta seeks to raise awareness about violence against women and girls around the world and increase actions to put an end to the issue.

Overall, the “Women on the Bridge” event was a great success! Rob Burton, the mayor of Oakville showed his support of ending Violence against Women by providing the participants with an inspiring speech.
